The i Touring model steps up the features with 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, a trip computer, a power driver seat, an in-dash six-CD changer, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, upgraded interior trim and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

The i Touring Plus will add a sunroof, a blind-spot monitoring system, electro-luminescent instrument gauges and outside mirrors with integrated turn signals. The i Grand Touring model adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a rearview camera, a multi-information display and a 10-speaker Bose sound system.

One of the more popular options for the Baton Rouge Mazda shopper will likely be the technology package, available for Grand Touring models. It includes automatic xenon headlights, automatic wipers, heated outside mirrors, keyless ignition/entry, an auto-dimming rearview and driver-side mirror, satellite radio, driver memory settings and a power passenger seat.

The EPA estimates fuel economy at 21 mpg city and 30 mpg highway for the four-cylinder i Sport with five-speed manual transmission. MAZDA6 i models with automatic transmissions are rated at 22 and 31mpg and the V6-powered versions come in at 18 and 27 mpg.

Standard safety features for all 2011 MAZDA 6 models include antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. In Edmunds brake testing, both the i and s Grand Touring models came to a stop from 60 mph in about 125 feet.

The 2011 MAZDA 6 interior is attractive and has a modern design and its 16.6-cubic-foot trunk is one of the largest in its class (great for bringing home the bacon – and whatever else its owner happens to need from the supermarket). The trunk’s unobtrusive hinges and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat gives it even more cargo-hauling ability for Baton Rouge Mazda drivers.

Safety Features on the 2011 Mazda6 include anti-lock disc brakes, stability and traction control, full-length side curtain airbags and front-seat side airbags. Mazda’s standard warranty is 3 years or 36,000 miles.

Edmunds.com says “The well-rounded 2011 Mazda6 ranks highly among family sedans for its sporty driving dynamics and spacious interior. Roomy cabin; big trunk; muscular performance from V6; smooth automatic transmissions; sporty handling.”
